Ceez asked:

Trying to make 1 well running car out of 2 that are ok. Want to make sure if I buy another year, 89, 89, etc.. that the parts are interchangeable.

Production of the 735i for the USA ran from 8/86 to 6/92. The longer wheelbase 735iL rain from 1/88 to 7/92. Some body panels, and the driveshaft are obviously not interchangeable,

Later E32 7-series cars, the 740i/iL, from 6/92 until 4/94 (3/94 for the 740iL) had the 4-litre V8 engine. Many parts, other than engine/transmission, will still be interchangeable.

The 750iL was also available from 6/87 until 3/94. As a long wheelbase car again some body panels, and electrical systems, plus the engine/gearbox/driveshaft are obviously not interchangeable (but could still be installed).

These were quite complicated cars, and difficult to work on without specialised knowledge, but they’re cheap, and still a nice-driving car.
