BMW or Bavarian Motor Works was founded in 1916. It started as an aircraft engine production but shifted to motorcycle production after World War I. The circular blue and white logo of BMW became popular throughout the world because of their excellent car and motorcycle manufacturing. Over the years, this German company became known as the one of the worldwide manufacturer of high performance and luxury automobiles and motorcycles.

Audi, another German automobile manufacturer, is also known for its luxury automobiles. Its four-ring logo is to represent the four original companies which merged eventually: the Audi, DKW, Horch and Wanderer. Audi is also a manufacturer of both cars and motorcycles and one of its most famous oldest models is the Coupe.

BMW has its SUV range with the BMW X Series. The BMW SUV range includes the BMW X3, X5, and X6. The Audi SUV range has the Q7 and Q5. Both SUV ranges offer vehicles on both petrol and diesel. Audi is proud of their SUV line because it is one of the most compact SUVs in the market yet offers a very spacious interior. Also, Audi Q5 and Q7 are coupe-shaped, has a long wheel base, and can accommodate 5 passengers. BMW, on the other hand, offers xDrive four-wheel-drive system with fully-variable torque split, six-cylinder in-line engine with four-valve technology.

BMW also offers a convertible range with its 1 and 3 convertible and the top-of-the-line BMW M3 Convertible. Audi’s convertible is the sports car Audi TT available in Coupe and Roadster. With its sleek design, the Audi TT is a winner with its 6-speed S tronic gearbox, a Quattro four-wheel drive, and its TDI engines. Comparing BMW’s M3 with Audi TT, the BMW has a more elegant and impressive overall design.

The sedan series of BMW offers the Coupe range. These are the BMW 1, 3, 5, 6 and 7. These sedan ranges are distinct to each other when it comes to interior and exterior design, road compatibility and engines. The Audi sedan range has the A3, A4, A5, A6 and the A8. Practical yet luxurious, safe and demanding on the road, Audi continues its high quality in style and performance.

Choosing from the two companies of BMW and Audi would definitely be depending on the buyer’s preferences and general taste for BMW leasing and possibly Audi leasing. Both car ranges offer different yet powerful specifications ideal for contract hire options.

Ian Webster asked:

In today’s highly competitive marketplace, it is more important than ever for high quality brands to retain and build on the loyalty of their customers, as well as attracting new ones. It may appear more than a little obvious that this is best achieved by offering designs that look great, perform well and offer some small but significant advantage over the opposition.

It can take many years for a company to build a solid and reliable customer base that will happily wax lyrical about the quality, innovation and philosophy of a brand. This loyalty can become almost like a mantra, such as ‘I always buy Mielle white goods – never let me down yet.’

This sort of behaviour is worth far more than a pack of sharply dressed young advertising hot shots, with a budget near the size of the recent US bank bailout fund. Alessi and BMW are great examples of this effect. Both pride themselves on producing designs that offer high performance, beautiful build quality and arresting looks. The customer has to pay a premium for the designs and they are happy to do so because both brands bring a strong identity that people aspire to own.

There is a flip side to this behaviour though. The loyal customers behave as though there has been an unwritten contract agreed, along the lines of ‘you continue to produce the great designs and I will continue to buy them and promote them.’ If that delicate balancing act between profit and quality is tipped too far in favour of the company accountants and an unfamiliar smile begins to appear on their faces, then beware - the big bad wolf of customer discontent may soon come knocking at the door.

When Daimler Benz decided to maintain their profit levels whilst reducing costs, the end-result was not surprisingly a dramatic drop in quality. Loyal customers who had bought Mercedes cars for years suddenly found that their latest purchase was no more reliable than a donkey with a bad case of wind and swiftly walked (usually because their car had broken down) over to the opposition. Potential new customers did not want to buy into a brand on the way down and swiftly followed into the competitors showrooms. The whole episode had a seriously damaging effect on Mercedes that has taken years and a lot of money to achieve recovery.

It is imperative that high quality brands continue to produce high quality designs in order to maintain a comfortable and lasting position in the marketplace. Attempts at short-term financial gain can have disastrous long-term consequences and history is littered with the casualties of such shortsighted thinking.

Thankfully, many high quality brands such as Alessi, BMW, Louis Poulsen, Design E and Iittala see the sense in honouring the unwritten agreement to provide quality products at premium prices and have established loyal customer bases.

Evander Klum asked:

The summer season is also the convertible’s season. Just recently, the Volkswagen Corporation has launched their line-up of their eight convertibles to heat up the summer season. Although not showcased as one, this year BMW also released their versions of two-door topless cars to join the summer steam: the 2007 BMW 3 series convertible, BMW M6 convertible, BMW Z4 convertible and the BMW Z4 M convertible (all built with BMW Catalytic converter).

The BMW 3 series convertible is available in two versions, the BMW 335i and the 328i. The exteriors of the convertibles give them a very distinctive style and elegance. Both the convertible has the three roof elements folding conveniently into luggage compartments. To add to its premium looks, the two versions both have distinctive engines of their own. The BMW 335i is engineered with BMW’s newest inline six-cylinder engine with twin turbochargers and intercooler for 300 unbelievable supple horsepower. The 328i convertible has a built in mighty 3.0-liter six-cylinder engine that powers up to 230 horsepower with Valvetronic technology and aluminum/magnesium construction.

The convertible version of the BMW M6 is powered by the engine of the BMW coupe only that the passengers will enjoy the open air. It is powered by the 5.0-liter V10 engine that generates 507 horsepower. This powers the car from 0-62mph in 4.8 seconds before speeding up to 155mph and if unchecked to 200mph eventually. Crafted with wood-grain trim options and carbon fiber splash, the M6 convertible is impressive sight. Its soft top design is a Fin Structure that has a triple layered hood that assembles like coupe silhouette.

Next BMW convertible in line is the BMW Z4. The BMW Z4 roadster bears the perfect aura of a sports car. Perfected with long bonnet, long wheelbase and short over hangs, the Z4 is no doubt an above standard roadster. A roof that folds in less than 10 seconds, whoever you are, a girl or a boy, man or a woman, the Z4 is the car you would want to be seen in. The engine is a six-cylinder Z4 Roadster that generates a powerful and premium performance. It powers to 195 kW that accelerates the vehicle from 0-100 km/h within 5.7 seconds. The 2.5 liter engine version speeds up the car to 100 km/h within 6.5 seconds.

The M series of the Z4 makes our magic four. This beautiful sports car sports the 3.2 liter, 24-valve inline six-cylinder engine that had been awarded “engine of the year” for five times in a row by an international jury—you’ll go 0-60 within 4.9 seconds. This engine has 330 horsepower at a maximum of 7,900 rpm.

Cyril Joseph asked:

BMW is well known for its technology and design. The style and reliability of these BMW cars make them stand out from the rest. So what exactly makes BMW cars some of the most efficient and stylish on the planet?

The more efficient fuel injector:

You may be aware that horsepower and emissions are both influenced by the fuel injector. The horsepower of any vehicle should be maximized while emissions are minimized. In order to achieve this condition, a rapid burn of fuel is required. This is where the BMW technology excels. They have made a small needle-like valve that injects the fuel forcefully under great pressure into the intake port. The fuel is atomized together with oxygen in the air permitting the fuel to burn quickly and deliver the needed power for your BMW car. The fuel injection system contributes to the great horsepower available in BMW cars.

The BMW ignition coil

BMW engines work on the same principle of other conventional spark ignition engines. However, the spark produced by the spark plugs of a BMW requires a high-voltage electrical charge. This high voltage electrical charge is made available to the spark plugs with the help of the ignition coil. The high voltage spark plugs are used in BMWs to improve the starting performance (the engine can start instantly in any weather condition). The ignition coil operates on the induction principle. It takes power from the accumulator and transforms it into thousands of volts. This high voltage is indispensable for maximum efficiency of the spark plug. This type of ignition coil is the specialty of BMW technology.

The BMW thermostat

The thermostat used in a BMW is another significant part. This device is capable of both measuring and regulating the engine temperature of the car. In order to control the temperature the thermostat will constantly monitor the temperature changes in the Engine.  This mechanism works to prevent engine damage due to overheating.

The BMW oxygen sensor

The BMW part that monitors the exhaust condition of the vehicle is the ‘Oxygen’ sensor. This measuring device provides data regarding the quality of the exhaust mix enabling the fuel injection computer to modify the air to fuel ratio to optimize performance. Necessary adjustments are made to ensure the efficient burning of fuel. The better the fuel burns the higher the performance of your BMW car.

All these BMW parts make them one of the most efficient cars in the planet.

Gargi Nath asked:

The factory steel BMW rims available in the US are manufactured and marketed there. All the BMW rims are top quality as they are manufactured by companies who consider good quality their highest priority. The rims are specially designed to fit all the BMWs, just as they manufacture rims for any car that belongs to the luxury wheels industry.

Manufacturers

The BMW rims are manufactured to all standards which exist in Germany as well as in the US. The manufacturers are generally experts in fitment, and are ready to make BMW rims of any specifications for you by taking the exact requirements for the make, model and year of the vehicle. The manufacturers have very good marketing teams and sales teams, which guarantee you efficiency and quality.

Chrome Rims

Today chrome rims are very popular. The new BMW rims can be put on an older model, as some like to modify the existing car. Sometimes, when you are buying the car, you can get the option of putting BMW rims on your model, if it does not have it. Nowadays, many people are choosing to add chrome rims to their vehicles just to give it the luxury look.

The BMW rims are definitely one of the additions or upgrade to your BMW, new or used. This is how you make people notice your BMW, because by adding the rims you just customize your car. These wheels are highly polished and are plated with a chrome mirror finish which shines in sunlight or streetlight. Many BMW lovers who take part in contests, rallies and shows, elect to install special chrome BMW rims on their vehicles, as it makes the car look sharper, faster and even more expensive.

When you shop for your BMW rims, make sure to note the exact model number of your BMW, the size of the rims and the width. With every model the measurements vary and so you must have all the specifications of the model, before you go shopping for the rims. Various Types

There are chrome BMW rims and alloy rims available. The alloy wheel is silver is color and has ten spokes. Some have five double spokes in front. You have to select the desired style or color, as the pictures on the web are in black and white. The center caps and lug nuts have generally to be bought extra and are not included in the price, especially if the price is discounted. Most of the BMW rims come with a lifetime warranty.

Having BMW rims is all about styling and elegance, because all BMW accessories like BMW replica wheels belong to a class of their own. You have to trust the resourceful expert, because you need reliability and aesthetic features for your wheel and the right fit and quality mounting can make all the difference.

I just changed the oil and have been looking for instructions on resetting the Oil Inspection/Service indicator and cannot find anything in any of the manuals I have. The dealership suggested holding the odometer reset button down while I start the car…that doesn’t work. Any BMW certified / shadetree mechanics out in Yahoo-town that can help out?

Thanks!

Cyril Joseph asked:

BMW has pioneered many new technologies together with other famous brands, and models in the automotive industry. They are improving the quality of their cars and car parts with exacting standards for each and every single auto part that is produced today. Though the BMW parts are designed to withstand the test of time, some interior parts have the chances to wear down with constant use. Because of this reason, BMW interior parts are widely available in the market today.

The interior parts are made to match the specifications of one’s BMW car unit. These parts are especially made to meet the needs of a specific BMW vehicle. Thus, one can expect replacement BMW parts to perform as ably and competently as one’s old BMW part. All interior parts comprising of air filter, alternator, antenna, ball joint, belts, brakes, brake pads, catalytic converter, clutch etc are available in the shops today.

Not only the interior parts, but also the performance parts can be changed to renew the performance of the BMW. For example, the braking system and the suspension of the BMW are mechanical parts, which means that it wears down by time. These performance parts have to be replaced with new ones to renew the cars performance. With BMW parts available everywhere, replacing the old performance parts with new one is never difficult.

Apart from the replacement parts, there are many other addon BMW parts that are available to unleash your BMW’s performance. Many BMW parts and performance enhancements may be used to increase horsepower and torque. For example, tuning the exhaust system to your car by selecting the correct exhaust diameter, backpressure, crossovers, and header/manifold choices can make a significant difference on the dyno, to your right foot, and to your ear.

Though the performance of a BMW with the factory parts is good, it doesn’t mean that it’s the maximum limit of performance that you can get. The performance offered by the factory BMW parts is just a fraction of what it can really be. Adding the performance parts in braking system, suspension system and the engine of BMW can enhance the handling ability, power, fuel efficiency and comfort ness of your BMW. Not adding any performance parts to your BMW is something like “settling for less when you can get more.”

Shopping BMW parts has never been easier before. Let it be a replacement part or a addon performance part, you can purchase everything online by relaxing in your home. Moreover, if you are not sure of which part to select for your car, you can seek expert advice too. Keeping one’s BMW in tip-top shape is just a click away.

Hailey Kerr asked:

BMW Group Canada, BMW 318ic parts maker has announced that its 1 Series Coupe will be offered in Canada in 2008.

The latest version in the successful BMW 1 Series model range, which has been available in the global markets since 2004, the new BMW 128i and 135i CoupÈs, will belong to the Premium Compact segment in Canada.

BMW’s new generation 3.0-litre inline six-cylinder Valvetronic engine with 230 horsepower and 200 lb-ft of torque will give power to the BMW CoupÈ. Having proven itself in both 3 and 5 Series models, the lightweight magnesium/aluminum engine should provide the BMW 128i CoupÈ with scintillating performance and also produce excellent levels of fuel economy.

BMW’s new twin-turbocharged 3.0-litre inline six-cylinder engine with high-precision injection, twin low-mass turbochargers and air-to-air intercooler is also in the BMW CoupÈ. This engine produces 300 horsepower and 300 lb-ft of torque from as low as 1,400 rpm, providing the BMW 135i CoupÈ with amazing performance and high fuel efficiency. As a proof of its one-of-a-kind performance, the engine won the 2007 International Engine of the Year award. The 135i CoupÈ accelerates from 0-100 km/h in 5.3 seconds in European specification.

BMW’s Dynamic Stability Control (DSC) includes a Dynamic Traction Control (DTC) function that offers electronic intervention to avoid loss of vehicle control, but at a higher basis before activation. The DSC system on the CoupÈ is specifically designed for performance-oriented driving. The accelerator pedal, for example, has a quicker response rate and electronic rear brake management is used to pose a differential lock for stronger acceleration in turns.

The 1 Series CoupÈ will bring a new contour to Canadian roads. The definitely unique 2 + 2 configuration will mix a rigid body with short overhangs, striking shoulder line, long engine compartment and wheelbase as well as large frameless doors.

The rear modifies a spoiler into the trunk lid. It does not only create an aggressive appearance, it also provides functional downforce at higher speeds. Both variants will be highlighted by 17-inch and optional 18-inch wheels.

As the “top” model, the BMW 135i CoupÈ will have an exclusive M Aerodynamics Package, featuring even more aggressive aesthetics, improved brake cooling and added downforce. The Sports Suspension with 18-inch wheels and performance tires, and a high-performance brake system proportioning six-piston fixed front calipers mated with two-piston fixed calipers on the rear are also included in the package.

The interior has high-quality and sophisticated trim elements with luxurious upholstery and color options. A standard feature is a 60/40 split rear seat. Embellishing the interior door handles, the glove compartment handle, the radio’s rotary knobs, the knobs of the automatic air conditioning system, the iDrive Controller, and the ornamental trim strips featured on the sports steering wheel are galvanized pearl gloss surfaces.

Sports seats with enhanced side support are part of the optional Sport Package, which is finished in highly distinctive leatherette materials or Boston leather.
