30 July 2008 - 16:06Bmw Thailand to Expand Bmw Premium Selection Programme

BMW
Evander Klum asked:

The subsidiary of BMW the producer of high quality BMW 530 parts in Thailand is hoping to expand its BMW Premium Selection which is an approved used car programme intended to cover all BMW authorized dealers nationwide by 2009. The said programme is expected to increase sales of new cars and at the same time improve the brand’s image.

Krisda Utamote, the General Manager for Sales and in charge of the programme said that the BMW Premium Selection is being offered at all certified dealerships in Bangkok however not in the province where there is a small used car market.

The BMW Premium Selection programme is very important since it boost the resale prices of BMW cars and lowers down the leasing rate for new cars. And to cover more areas, BMW Thailand plans of launching the said programme at one or two of their dealers in the provinces next year but they have not decided yet which dealers to choose.

Still in connection with BMW’s expansion in Thailand, new authorized dealers were open in major cities including Chiang Mai, Nakhon Ratchasima, Phitsanulok, Khon Kaen, Hat Yai, Phuket, and Chon Buri.

BPS is a global brand which guarantees the automaker’s standards in the used-car sector. The vehicles that are qualified to join this programme have to undergo a 72-technical point inspection that would be conducted by BMW-trained technicians. Similarly, the histories of all cars submitted are to be meticulously inspected and recorded. Cars that are to be accepted on the programme must be less than seven years old or with mileage less than 100,000km.

There will also be other premium services offered such as a comprehensive 24-moth or 40,000-km warranty regardless of which comes first, 24-hour roadside assistance, test driving and individual financing.

As part of BMW’s customer service, all of its BPS cars are updated regularly which customers can view at the used-car section at bmw.co.th. Mr. Utamote said the main objective of the company is to provide customers with quality, service, and reassurance that would justify their decision to buy the used cars from BMW dealers. It was in the year 2004 when BMW Thailand has first launched the BMW Premium Selection programme and since then it has been able to increase sales of BPS cars by 15 to 16 percent annually.

For this year, BMW Thailand aims to sell around 1,900 cars which is below the 2,800 units previously achieved on the same period last year. The low projection for this year is attributed to the poor economy. However, next year the company is expecting to increase its BPS car sales by 17 percent of new BMW car sales by increasing the volume of BMW’s 3, 5 and 7 Series.

26 July 2008 - 21:23Bmw Unleashes New M3

BMW
Hailey Kerr asked:

BMW, maker of BMW 2800 parts, has unleashed its fourth generation BMW M3. This sports car has an eight-cylinder power unit and can reach a top engine speed of 8,400 rpm. It can accelerate from 0 to 100 kilometers-per-hour in 4.8 seconds and achieve a top speed limited electronically to 250 km/h or 155 miles-per-hour. Furthermore, this two-seat vehicle has an average fuel consumption equivalent to 22.8 mile-per-gallon. Other features include audio files with BMW M3 features, interviews in English and German as well as car sounds.

Among the models in the BMW M GmbH range, the M3 has always been that very special model living up in full to its motorsport tradition. This already applied to the very first BMW M3 unleashed in 1986 and continued throughout the two subsequent model generations. This power comes out once again most clearly in the 2007 version of the BMW M3.

The new high-performance model differs from the “regular” coupé in looks and technical features, although the latest generation of the BMW M3 was based in its development on the new BMW M3 coupé. Aside from the car’s unique design, drivetrain as well as suspension technology conceived from the start for excellent performance, lightweight technology came right at the top in the brief given to the engineers at BMW M. And just how consistently this pursuit for development has been translated into reality in terms of intelligent lightweight engineering is borne out by the car’s power-to-weight ratio of only 3.8 kg (8.4 lb) per horsepower.

And why does the new BMW M3 have a low weight? One reason is that it’s the first production car in its segment to boast a roof made of carbon-fiber-reinforced plastic (CFP). As a whole, the next-gen BMW M3, except for just a few components, is indeed completely new in its engineering and design concept, clearly reflecting the successful heritage of BMW M GmbH.

Other than the load-bearing structure of the car, only the two doors, the boot lid, the windows, the headlights and rear lights have been sustained from the 3 Series Coupé. However, all other body components, by contrast, were especially improved for the new BMW M3.

At first sight, you’ll easily detect the unique character of the new BMW M3. Over and above the engine compartment lid with its striking power dome and the two air intake openings, several features vividly characterize the new model from the ground up: the function-oriented design of the front and rear air dams, the so-called gills in the front side panels, the side-sills also in distinctive design, the roof made of clearly visible carbon fiber, as well as the exterior mirrors and light-alloy wheels in the design of the BMW M. in turn, through its athletic and aesthetic appearance, the exterior, powerfully highlights the sporting qualities of the car.

The exterior paintwork also adds an individual touch, offering the aficionado not only numerous additional colors, but also four special paintwork options which are exclusive to BMW M.

25 July 2008 - 11:44How to Stop Fantasizing About the Bmw M3 Sedan

BMW
Chet Waters asked:

How To Stop Fantasizing About The BMW M3Sedan

Yes, I know exactly how you feel. When I first saw the TV commercial for the BMW M3, I was totally blown away. My heart was really racing as the announcer says, “Eight thousand four hundred revolutions per minute. The first ever production V8 BMW M3”. That was the most exciting 32 seconds of automotive promotion that I’ve seen in a long time. No wonder there has been 194,234 views of that commercial on YouTube as of April 2008.

As you know, BMW owners are fanatics. And I mean that in a good way.

BMW M GmbH, the motorsports arm of the company, has created the 414 Horsepower V8 high performance production M3. You may not be aware of this, but the M3 sports sedan concept was introduced to the American market in 1988. And since that time it has been nothing but a mutual love affair. Truly it has become one of the greatest fantasies for BMW enthusiasts. Myself included.

See if you don’t agree that this fourth generation BMW M3 has one of the car industry’s most remarkable engines. Not only is it a V8, but it also has more power, less weight and more efficiency than the previous M3 engine that was only 6 cylinders. In addition, your little heart will jump for joy when you hear that this new production V8 gives you 15% increase in power and at the same time you get an 8% improvement in fuel economy. All I can say is WOW.

All these numbers just make my head confused. I only use them to impress my wife as an excuse for me wanting one of these powerful babies. The fact is, I could really care less about the technical “specs” of my fantasy BMW M3. All I want to know is———

How is it going to make me feel when I put the “petal to the metal”?

All of you guys and gals out there who share my fantasy for the BMW M3 understand that it’s all about the feeling. And as the old saying goes about people who do not own a BMW, “If I have to explain it to you, you just won’t understand”. But that’s OK. This only means more excitement for you and me.

Tell me the truth. You feel the same way, don’t you?

In closing let me share with you a few “little known” facts about why all BMWs are so inspiring. Each model is designed with the ability to be recycled at the end of their useful life. In fact, BMW has a separate plant just to “recycle” as much material as possible from cars no longer in service. This helps not only the environment but also the consumer by keeping the new car prices as low as possible.

And one last tid bit for you. Expect to see in the future the coming of hydrogen-powered models. It’s not a matter of “if”, but a matter of when.

So, go feed your fantasy. I promise I won’t tell anyone.

Check out the first ever production BMW M3 and feel the thrill.
