13 August 2008 - 0:48Should I trade in my more expensive mercedes for a less expensive BMW?

BMW
ImBored asked:

Should I trade in my 2002 c240 with 75000 miles for a 2001 BMW 325Ci Coupe with 92000 miles (sport premium package) ? Or should I sell my car then buy the BMW?
I know my car is worth at least 14-15K$ and it has warranty. The BMW is listed for 12500$ and it says (brand new tires and free warranty to buyer).
And if I do trade in, would the dealer pay me the difference?

10 August 2008 - 23:04How exactly does the BMW Steptronic work?

BMW
Ahmed أحمد asked:

I am looking into the new 2008 BMW 135i. But I’m a little confused with the steptronic transmission. With the steptronic transmission option, is the car at all like a manual car (i.e clutch, manual shifting without using the steering wheel)? My friend had a 2003 BMW 330Li that was an automatic, but had the Tiptronic so he COULD shift manually if he wanted to. Is the new BMW 135i going to be an automatic first, manual second? I want a standard manual car with the OPTION to use the steering wheel to shift (without the clutch), but I want it to be a manual car First. And what is the difference between Tiptronic and Steptronic? Thanks.

3. Not all BMW owners are aware that some clubs offer driving schools, rallies, autocrosses and safety schools. All events are geared to satisfy that urge to experience to the max the BMW experience.

4. Larger BMW Clubs sponsor national annual gatherings and regional festivals. These are great for you and your family to enjoy.

6 August 2008 - 22:52Purchasing A BMW In The USA - Symbol Of A Sports Car

BMW
Corbin Newlyn asked:

When people are successful some have a tendency to show off their success to others. There is no better way to show off your success than to drive an expensive sports car that lets people know just how truly successful you are. You would be hard-pressed to find a better car that does this than a BMW.

Purchasing a BMW in the USA gives people a sense about your financial success. In addition to BMW having the expertise on how to make an exceptional automobile and they are fully aware that individuals who purchase a BMW do so with the mindset of having the thrill of driving a great sports car but also to look important as well as feel important.

A BMW is not an inexpensive automobile to buy, however if you’re looking for an exceptional sports car driving experience then purchasing a BMW in the USA will give you the best opportunity to live that experience.

Variety Of Different Models

When purchasing a BMW in the USA, you will have quite a few options available to you. The BMW you end up buying will more than likely be dictated by how much you’re willing to spend and what features you’re looking for. If you’re an individual that has the means, your best bet when purchasing your BMW from the USA would be to include a fully loaded model of either the 500 series or the 700 series.

A car such as the BMW 500 series or 700 series has a certain prestige about them that garners attention from the casual onlooker when you’re driving down the street. The fact that a BMW is a foreign car in the USA also adds to the allure it has on American buyers.

Locating a Dealer Closest to You

A good place to find a BMW dealership located in the USA, would be to start in your local yellow pages. Word of mouth is also a reliable method of finding a good dealer. There are numerous BMW dealerships throughout the USA and there is very likely several conveniently located close to where you live.

The experience of being at a BMW dealership can be quite unique. The sales staff at a BMW dealership in the USA are accustomed to dealing with affluent clients. So more often then not their level of sophistication will have a tendency to stand out and it is likely you will notice it.

Once a successful negotiation with a BMW USA dealership has been completed and you have your BMW automobile in hand, be sure to follow up with the service department to obtain any advice you may need for periodic maintenance instructions from the service departments experienced staff.

5 August 2008 - 15:12How to Sell Your Bmw for Top Dollar Fast

BMW
Chet Waters asked:

How To Sell Your BMW For Top Dollar Fast

You probably think that the best way to sell your BMW is to start by putting an ad in your local newspaper. In a typical metropolitan area, the newspaper circulation on a Sunday might be around 600,000 to 2,000,000 depending on your location. That might seem like a lot of eyeballs to view your ad, but let me tell you why this is the least effective way to sell your BMW.

With newspaper or magazine ads you have no way of knowing what specific words or phrases your potential BMW buyer will respond to best. Usually the ad is written from the point of view of the seller. Unfortunately, where most advertisers miss the boat is that the ad must be written from the buyer’s point of view. And with print advertising you have no way of knowing what motivates your potential buyers. It’s a big waste of your time and money.

See if this makes any sense to you.

The reason the Internet works so well is because search engines display results based upon the words that people use to search for things. For example, if someone types in “BMW for sale” in Google, you are guaranteed NOT to get a list of Chevys, Fords, Hondas or some other kind of car. Your search results will match your “specific” request for information about “BMW for sale”. This is how you focus in like a laser beam only on those people interested in “BMW for sale”.

In my opinion, the best way to sell your BMW fast and for top dollar is to sell it online in an auction situation. There are many auction websites out there. Some are better than others. But the most popular site, known to millions of people, gets the best results.

There are 10 good reasons why you will benefit by using an online auction to sell your BMW:

1. You can get many bidders in a short period of time.

2. You don’t have the hassle of “Lookers” coming to your house wasting your time because they can’t or won’t buy your BMW.

3. You know that your buyers are “real” because they will not place a bid unless they are serious and can afford your price.

4. You know that your buyers are “motivated” to buy today because they are making a bid.

5. Your BMW is available for viewing 24/7 online. Your auction listing will contain all the detailed information about your BMW that buyers could possibly want.

6. Your BMW buyer will be able to order an “Independent Inspection Report” and a “Vehicle History Report” so that they feel confident about buying your BMW online. Everything will be out in the open. Nothing is hidden from your buyer. This makes it easy for your buyer to make a buying decision today because it builds trust and confidence in you.

7. You will get the highest possible price for your BMW because of very basic human psychology. When a serious motivated buyer makes up their mind to purchase your BMW, they will not let someone else buy it right out from under them at a price lower than what they are willing to pay. In other words, the fear of loss motivates your true BMW buyer to pay whatever is necessary to win the auction. This happens every day of the week.

8. You don’t have to accept any price that you consider to be too low. You are always in control of the final sales price.

9. Selling your BMW online using the auction method creates a “feeding frenzy” of ready, willing and able buyers for you.

10. Selling your BMW online using the auction method lets you reach potential buyers that you would never be able to reach with a newspaper or magazine ad.

OK, I know what you’re thinking.

You’re thinking that auctions are only for people who are desperate to sell. The fact is, thousands of BMW sellers every year use online auctions to successfully sell their BMW fast and for top dollar. Online auctions are where the majority of serious, motivated, qualified BMW buyers go to find the best deal.

And here’s another important tip for you. The best deal doesn’t means the lowest price. The best deal means the “Best Value” for your buyer’s money. Don’t forget that.

But don’t take my word for it. Go online and check it out for yourself. You’ll discover “How To Sell Your BMW For Top Dollar Fast”.

3 August 2008 - 9:19Bmw Bags 7 Awards for 4 Engines, International Engine of the Year

BMW
Evander Klum asked:

BMW, maker of quality BMW accessory parts, bagged 7 awards for its 4 engines, namely: BMW 3.0 liter Twin Turbo in-line six cylinder petrol engines, BMW M 5.0 liter V10 petrol engine, BMW 2.5 liter in-line six cylinder petrol engines, and the MINI 1.6 liter Turbo petrol engine. With these, BMW, for the third time in a row, won the 2007 International Engine of the Year.

The award is considered the most important engine competition in the world. The jury consisted of 62 high-ranking international automobile journalists from 30 countries.

The BMW 3.0 liter Twin Turbo petrol engine is now fitted in all body variations of the successful BMW 3 Series. The 6-cylinder engine with Twin Turbo technology won the “Best New Engine of the Year 2007” for the 2.5 liter and 3.0 liter capacity classes, respectively.

As an addition to the 6-cylinder engine with Twin Turbo technology’s extreme pulling power, the awards jury was also impressed by the high efficiency of the 225 kW power unit. In the BMW 335i Coupe, with 9.5 liters per 100 kilometers, the average level of consumed fuel based on the EU norm is intensely moderate for this performance class. And this is basically because of BMW High Precision Injection. It is the world’s first jet-guided direct injection system ever to be produced in high-volume production. This, in effect, allows a specific and accurate metering of the mixture of air-fuel.

The V10 high-performance engine, which is to be found in BMW M5 and M6, won 2 awards. Like in the past 2 years, the said engine with a 507bhp power package and a capacity of 5 liters bagged the “Best Performance Engine of the Year” award. It also won in the engine class that has over 4.0 liters capacity. The said engine had already won the “International Engine of the Year” award in 2005 and 2006.

The 2.5 liter 6-cylinder petrol engine with VALVETRONIC won the 2.0 – 2.5 liter award. The engine is being used in the BMW Z4 Roadster 2.5si and X3 2.5si. It was first used in 2001. Since then, it was established in millions of automobiles. The engine its fully variable valve control yields 160 kW and one can really say it has the BMW philosophy of efficient dynamics.

According to Rogelio Rivera-Nava, a jury member from Mexico, the exquisite sound of the 2.5-litre engine can be heard from a distance. He further stated the construction of the in-line 6-cylinder gives the basis for the technical purity of this most famous BMW engines.

The BMW Group and PSA Peugeot Citroën jointly received the award for the 1.6 liter turbo engine under the 1.4-1.8 liter category. The engine is being used in the MINI Cooper S.

For the last 9 years, BMW has been a recipient of over 30 of the highly sought-after “International Engine of the Year” awards. This makes the Bavarian auto manufacturer a leader in the field of engine construction and innovation.

1 August 2008 - 9:50Why does my BMW shudder on accelerating from a dead stop or a roll-on from below 5 mph?

BMW
f6wyvern asked:

My 1998 BMW 328i shudders slightly when I accelerate from a dead stop or when I accelerate from a roll below 5 mph. The shuddering starts at around 5 mph and between 1700 and 2200 rpm. The shuddering feels as if it is coming from the rear passenger wheel and it abates once I’ve passed 10 mph.

30 July 2008 - 16:06Bmw Thailand to Expand Bmw Premium Selection Programme

BMW
Evander Klum asked:

The subsidiary of BMW the producer of high quality BMW 530 parts in Thailand is hoping to expand its BMW Premium Selection which is an approved used car programme intended to cover all BMW authorized dealers nationwide by 2009. The said programme is expected to increase sales of new cars and at the same time improve the brand’s image.

Krisda Utamote, the General Manager for Sales and in charge of the programme said that the BMW Premium Selection is being offered at all certified dealerships in Bangkok however not in the province where there is a small used car market.

The BMW Premium Selection programme is very important since it boost the resale prices of BMW cars and lowers down the leasing rate for new cars. And to cover more areas, BMW Thailand plans of launching the said programme at one or two of their dealers in the provinces next year but they have not decided yet which dealers to choose.

Still in connection with BMW’s expansion in Thailand, new authorized dealers were open in major cities including Chiang Mai, Nakhon Ratchasima, Phitsanulok, Khon Kaen, Hat Yai, Phuket, and Chon Buri.

BPS is a global brand which guarantees the automaker’s standards in the used-car sector. The vehicles that are qualified to join this programme have to undergo a 72-technical point inspection that would be conducted by BMW-trained technicians. Similarly, the histories of all cars submitted are to be meticulously inspected and recorded. Cars that are to be accepted on the programme must be less than seven years old or with mileage less than 100,000km.

There will also be other premium services offered such as a comprehensive 24-moth or 40,000-km warranty regardless of which comes first, 24-hour roadside assistance, test driving and individual financing.

As part of BMW’s customer service, all of its BPS cars are updated regularly which customers can view at the used-car section at bmw.co.th. Mr. Utamote said the main objective of the company is to provide customers with quality, service, and reassurance that would justify their decision to buy the used cars from BMW dealers. It was in the year 2004 when BMW Thailand has first launched the BMW Premium Selection programme and since then it has been able to increase sales of BPS cars by 15 to 16 percent annually.

For this year, BMW Thailand aims to sell around 1,900 cars which is below the 2,800 units previously achieved on the same period last year. The low projection for this year is attributed to the poor economy. However, next year the company is expecting to increase its BPS car sales by 17 percent of new BMW car sales by increasing the volume of BMW’s 3, 5 and 7 Series.
